What’s the difference between a Kickstarter Exclusive Edition and a Library Edition?
The Kickstarter Exclusive Editions are available only during the first 72 hours of this campaign. They will never be reprinted, will have premium packaging and exclusive variant hardcovers.
The Library Editions are premium hardcovers, forming part of Heavy Metal’s permanent publishing line.
Both use the same restored interiors - the difference is variant cover exclusivity and collector appeal.

What did you learn from the first campaign delays?
Our first Kickstarter was an incredible success - but we underestimated fulfilment scale. We had over 40,000 individual items to process, and logistics quickly became a massive challenge. Since then, we’ve partnered with scalable, professional global fulfilment services, built extra time into production, and streamlined our packaging workflow. This campaign reflects those lessons - professional logistics, more contingencies and a simpler offer.

How are legacy RanXerox customers being handled?
We are honouring all verified legacy purchases of RanXerox made under previous ownership. Eligible customers will receive a Library Edition copy of RanXerox as part of this campaign’s fulfilment, at no additional cost. We’ll contact these customers directly by 5 December 2025 to confirm shipping details, with a final cut-off date of 11 December 2025. If contact isn’t confirmed by that date, we may be unable to fulfil, but our team will make every effort to reach everyone eligible. This is a one time offer.

Are shipping costs included in my pledge?
No. Shipping will be calculated and charged later in BackerKit once we know final weights and destinations. This keeps your pledge price lower and ensures accuracy across all countries. We know postage is pricey and we take no margins from it. Consider your postage options carefully as they can be significant - especially with our larger format publications.

We’ve partnered with the best service providers we can find. This minimises customs delays and transit times. Any unexpected issue will be communicated transparently, and we’ll never add unapproved charges.

Will there be more titles after this campaign?
Yes - this is just the beginning. The Heavy Metal Library will expand with roughly three new volumes each year, featuring both classic and contemporary creators. Backing now makes you part of the Library’s founding chapter.

Can I change or upgrade my pledge later?
Yes. Once the campaign ends, you’ll receive a BackerKit survey. There you can upgrade your tier, add extras, or update your shipping address before fulfilment closes.

What if the campaign doesn’t reach its goal?
Kickstarter campaigns are all-or-nothing. If we don’t reach our funding goal, no pledges will be charged and no products will be produced in these formats. Our projections are conservative, and we’re confident in achieving the goal based on prior campaigns.

Why these four books?
RanXerox, Segments, Druuna, and The Covers Art Book represent the full creative spectrum of Heavy Metal - cyberpunk, visionary sci-fi, sensual apocalypse, and five decades of artistic innovation. They are classics and each one is incredible. We love them so much and we want as many people as possible to love them as well. Together they form the perfect foundation for the Library’s launch.

Can I buy these after the campaign?
The Library Editions will eventually be available through Heavy Metal’s store and retail channels. These books will not be available in retail for at least 4 to 6 months after backers orders are delivered. However, the Kickstarter Exclusive Editions will only ever be available to Kickstarter backers and will never be reprinted.

What is BackerKit?
BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!
The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.
How does BackerKit work?
After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.
I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?
The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.
Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.
To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.
How do I update my shipping address?
BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.
When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?
That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.
I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?
As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
